Good study methods create effort in the right place. They make you retrieve, connect, and apply information, which is what exams eventually require.
Use active recall
Turn headings into questions and answer them without looking. Check your answer only after you have made a genuine attempt.
Mix explanation with practice
After learning a concept, explain it simply and solve a related question. The explanation tests clarity; the question tests application.
- Blurting or memory maps
- Practice questions
- Teaching the concept
- Short spaced quizzes
Choose methods by purpose
Use questions for recall, worked examples for problem solving, and comparison tables for similar concepts. One method does not fit every subject.
